EASTON, Pa. — The Easton City Council is considering a law that would let the city permanently seize the car of anyone caught cruising for a prostitute.

However, it is unclear if such a law would hold up in court. Easton defense lawyer Gary Asteak said the city cannot impose a severe penalty for what state law calls a misdemeanor. Still, Pennsylvania law lets police seize cars used in drug deals.

Police Chief Larry Palmer said he doesn’t know how the courts will rule, but said such a law is worth trying. Once a few cars are seized, it will make people think twice about going into Easton to find a prostitute, Palmer said.

What if you are cruising on a bicycle? A skateboard? Better yet, what if you approach a prostitute while taking a mid-afternoon stroll? Will they seize your sneakers?

There should be no laws regarding sex for consenting adults. Period.

Government should not only be kept out of the bedroom, but also out of the backseat of some guy’s Chevy.

Man Poses as Federal Agent and Makes Drug Busts

<sarcasm>As the official Blog of Bile Drug Czar I feel it is my responsibility to bring to light important victories in the drug war such as this one. If you don’t believe I’m the blog of bile Drug Czar, I can give you a number to call that will let you know I’m part of a special inter-blog task force. Unfortunately I was unable to check with our official Blog of Bile NY Times Czar as to whether I can post this or not, but as I am a federal agent I can skip that part of protocol.</sarcasm>

Seriously though, wow, just wow. It’s gotten to the point where things are so convoluted that a rent-a-cop with a badge, gun and crown vic can randomly start heading drug raids. A war mentality breeds this kind of crap. I’d be willing to bet any idiot with a rifle could go to Iraq, claim they were a military security contractor and start shooting random people from rooftops. This is almost the same thing, but it’s happening in the US.

Undercover NYPD Cops Frame 4 On Drug Charges

Undercover police officers who arrested four men on drug charges are under investigation after surveillance video proved the men they arrested committed no crime.

Drug charges against brothers Jose Colon and Maximo Colon, along with two of their friends have been dropped.

The undercover NYPD officers are seen on video dancing in the street, then attempting to frame four innocent men.

“I asked police officer why are you arresting me,” said Maximo Colon. “Never did I get an answer.”

The investigators swore under oath they bought drugs from the four men. Jose and Maximo colon say that didn’t happen.

“The cops are supposed to help us,” said a shaken Jose Colon.

Defense lawyers say the surveillance cameras proved their clients were framed.

“It was nauseating,” said defense lawyer Rochelle Berliner.

Two hours of video showed no contact at all between the four men arrested and undercover officers - proof that lead prosecutors to drop charges against the four men, and even declare in court the men did not commit the crime.

Defense lawyers say it’s disturbing but not uncommon.

“As defense attorneys you know it exists more often than government wants you to believe,” said Brad Wolk.

In the 6 months it took to clear the Colon brothers names, they lost their business and their savings.

As a result of his ordeal, Maximo Colon has lost trust in police officers.

The two men are now involved in a civil suit against the city and hope to one day rebuild their lives.

The NYPD is investigating the officers involved in this incident. Two of the officers are reportedly on modified duty.

Modified duty? Looks like they’re going to get off. Even if they win their civil case they’re likely not going to get enough to cover all the loses they have incurred let alone additional restitution.

Man laughs so hard he falls to the floor… leads to assault and arrest

A man was handcuffed, arrested and dragged before a court after falling off the settee with laughter while watching Have I Got News For You.

Christopher Cocker, 36, was enjoying the BBC1 show when a joke made by panellist Paul Merton had him doubled up with laughter.

He collapsed on the floor - but the thud startled his downstairs neighbour who, believing he had collapsed, called police.

Officers arrived and said Cocker was initially co-operative but became ‘aggressive’ when they asked his name and tried to shut his front door.

He was eventually disabled with parva spray through the gap and arrested.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said: ‘The officer accepts in his statement that he struck my client and then sprayed him again.

‘He was handcuffed and unceremoniously thrown into the back of a police van. When he ended up in a police cell he was asking himself how all this had happened.’

Mr Taylor told Blackburn Magistrates’ Court, Lancs., said that having informed the police he was the only one in the flat and he was fine, his client could not understand why they wanted his details.

‘With hindsight he should just have told the police what they wanted to know and they would have gone on their way,’ said Mr Taylor.

You could have Mr. Taylor but then we wouldn’t have these wonderful police abuse stories to post about.

This is just another example of people thinking it’s the governmnets job to handle every situation. If you think the guy upstairs just collapsed get off your fat ass and check. Call emergency medical services after you confirm he’s not just tripped or fallen on the floor in a fit of laughter.

We don’t know how angry this guy actually got but I don’t doubt that the cops overreacted. In just the few times I’ve gotten a chance to say no to them they were hardly put into the best of moods.

Curtail Conversing with Cops

I liked these two videos when they popped up on the Social Memory Complex:

As far as speaking to police is concerned, I tend to avoid it for all but minor matters such as traffic tickets and asking directions. If you want to increase your chances of getting out of a traffic ticket, I recommend reading this book. I’ve been pulled over numerous times and never received a ticket for a moving violation. Other than that I haven’t really had many run ins with the police.
